Whether you get it from a well or from the municipal water supply, your water is likely filled with a variety of different contaminants. While most of these contaminants are safe for consumption, they can still have several negative effects (ie. water staining, foul smells, poor tastes, etc.).
For this reason, it’s often a good idea to employ a home water filter. A water filter will remove the majority of contaminants from your water supply, providing it with a pure and drinkable taste and consistency.

Filter Smart Whole-House Water Filter
The best home water filter on the market today comes from this company, Filter Smart. Designed to filter up to a million gallons of water a day, it removes not only harmful minerals and bacteria but chemicals as well (chlorine, pesticides, herbicides, etc.).
One of the great things about this filter is that it foregoes the filtering of beneficial minerals such as magnesium and calcium. In other words, it produces high-quality water without compromising your nutritional needs.
While it’s expensive, it’s important to note that it covers your entire home’s water supply. This means that it’s the only filtration system you’ll ever need.
iSpring RCC7AK 6-Stage Reverse Osmosis System
Next on our list is the iSpring RC7AK Reverse Osmosis System. Providing 6 stages of filtration, it’s designed to remove essentially all contaminants from its corresponding water supply. Though on the expensive side, it’s well worth the money.
While this filtration system is similar to all reverse osmosis systems, it differs in one big way: its 6th filter. This filter is an alkaline remineralization filter, one which adds back the beneficial minerals that the previous filters had removed.
The end result? Clean, smooth, and drinkable water which still helps you to meet your dietary needs.
Home Master TMAFC Reverse Osmosis System
The Home Master TMAFC Reverse Osmosis System is similar to the iSpring system reviewed above. The big difference between the two, however, is that the Home Master is much more expensive.
Nonetheless, it provides terrific filtration, removing the vast majority of contaminants from water while also adding back beneficial minerals during its final stage.
If you’re looking for the absolute best, you can’t go wrong with this system. It’s exceedingly durable and highly functional.
APEC 5-Stage Reverse Osmosis System
Next up is the APEC 5-stage Reverse Osmosis System. Available for around the same price as the iSpring, it provides similar filtration capabilities.
However, unlike the iSpring, it does not possess demineralization capabilities. This essentially means that it rids your water of beneficial minerals like calcium and magnesium.
That being said, it produces a smooth and refreshing brand of water which is by quenching and delicious.
Olympia Water Systems 5-Stage Reverse Osmosis System
Similar to the APEC system reviewed above, this Olympia Water Systems reverse osmosis system produces a clean and smooth brand of water which is as refreshing as they come. Though it’s a bit expensive, it offers enough functionality to make it worth its while.
Unfortunately, because it possesses only 5 stages of filtration, it will not add minerals back to filtered water. However, if you’re alright with meeting your minerals needs elsewhere, it’s a good buy.
Aquasana 3-Stage Water Filter System
This Aquasana filtration system is similar to the reverse osmosis systems reviewed above but differs in the fact that it only contains 3 stages of filtration. As such, it is a little less successful in catching all existing contaminants.
Nonetheless, it produces fairly clean and tasty water that’s good for drinking and cooking purposes. Make note, though, that for its price, you could find a 5 or 6-stage filtration system instead.
EcoPure ECOP30 Water Filtration System
The EcoPure ECOP30 is very similar to the Aquasana system reviewed above, offering 3 levels of filtration. While it removes the vast majority of contaminants from water, it’s not quite as effective as higher-powered models.
That being said, it’s also a little cheaper than other models. This makes it a fairly solid budget buy.
Frizzlife Undersink Water Filter
If you’re looking for a single-faucet filtration system, you should consider this one from Frizzlife. Installed directly under a given sink, it removes all bad minerals, chemicals, and bacteria while keeping the beneficial ones.
Easy to install, and available for a very reasonable price, it’s perfect for those who are only looking to purify their drinking water.
ZeroWater Pitcher Water Filter
Looking for a filter that’s as simple to use as possible? The ZeroWater Pitcher Water Filter has you covered.
All you have to do to use this filter is pour water into it and then pour water out. The pitcher will filter out minerals as water passes through it.
Note, however, that this doesn’t remove chemicals or bacteria. It’s designed for those who get their water from a municipal water supply
Filtrete Maximum Water Filtration System
The last filter we’ll review is the Filtrete Maximum, a small filter which is great for drinking water purposes. While it’s not quite as effective as top-tier models, it does a reasonably good job of making water pure and drinkable.
Available at a steal of a price, it’s one of the best budget filters on the market today.
