1. Build More Storage
Build more storage in clever areas like under the staircase. This way, you are adding to your storage space without changing the major components of your house.
Make sure your garage has the appropriate in-built storage too. This can be a good place to keep household items that you don’t use every day.
2. Get Rid of Stuff You Don’t Need
This may sound obvious, but it really is an important step. If you want to have more space in your home, get rid of stuff you don’t use or no longer need.
Regular de-cluttering of your home will help to maximize the space you already have. Work through each room methodically.
Have a bag for stuff you can re-sell, for stuff suitable for a charity store, and for stuff that will need to go to the bin.
3. Store Extra Clothing
If you find your wardrobe overflowing all the time, or piles of laundry building up, then it’s time to have a wardrobe clear-out. Consider storing clothes that are out of season.
For example, have a box for winter clothing, summer clothing, and in-between layers. Only have the clothes in your wardrobe that you need for that season.
4. Use an Ottoman
Ottomans are great for all rooms. Some double as a bench or footstool.
Use one for the end of your bed to store your bedsheets and spare blankets when not in use. Add an Ottoman to your living area to store blankets, cushions, and magazines that you otherwise wouldn’t want on display.
Add an Ottoman to your dining area to store table linen and accessories. This can double up as a long bench to sit on when extra guests are dining.
5. Always Label Everything
Labeling everything will make it easier to retrieve without making a mess. If you label everything in your kitchen area, the kitchen will stay more organized.
Labeling your spare clothing boxes and other boxes of stuff will help with the organization and storage of such items.
6. Use Offsite Storage if You Need To
If you really don’t have spare room after a thorough de-cluttering, then consider storing items offsite at self storage, Canada. There are several affordable storage options in most towns and cities.
“If you are considering self storage, you must remember to compare multiple self storage facilities in terms of price, location, unit size, and more to get the best deals possible.” WhatStorage, an online marketplace for self storage in Birmingham, London, Manchester, and many other places in the UK advises its users.
7. Choose the Right Products for Your Space
If you are moving to a new house, then consider purchasing furniture specifically to fit into that house. It’s no good buying a large 12 seater sofa, only to find your living area can fit a 3 seater.
