Aluminium is a composite material which is beneficial in many ways. It is known for its durability, lightweight, and robustness of the material. It has a range of products for our everyday use.
Aluminium fabrication Sunshine Coast can be of many uses and companies like Turnweld are doing a great job executing it.
Techniques to Fabricate Aluminium
Aluminium fabrication goes through some harsh techniques, including heating and purification, to get the final product. There are two methods used to fabricate aluminium.
- 1.Refining method
- 2.Smelting method
Refining Method:
This method is used by mixing the sandstone with aluminium with Sodium hydroxide, popularly known as caustic soda, crushing together and processing to create a slurry containing the ore particles.
The slurry is then passed through heavy pressure and heat to dissolve the aluminium compound. The liquid formed during the process is filtered in a tank. Impurities will be settled at the bottom, and the immediate solution is pumped through the filters.
Smelting Method:
The process of smelting is a complicated method when it comes to the fabrication of aluminium. In this process, the aluminium solution is exposed to electric currents, allowing oxygen and aluminium particles to separate quickly.
The carbon rod attracts oxygen molecules, which form carbon dioxide. The aluminium particles, which are fresh and refined, settle down at the bottom of the pot.
Nevertheless, of which method is used, the aluminium quality is of very high quality. High-quality aluminium is manufactured from raw materials and also from recycled materials, which have been supplied from various production plants.
Fabrication
After the aluminium is processed, very specialized machinery must provide aluminium for commercial builders and suppliers for precise requirements and specifications.
Specialist machinery and software such as Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines are used to mould, shape, and cut the aluminium to any required specifications. This machinery is used to manufacture very complex engineering equipment such as aircraft parts that are very demanding inaccuracy.
Cold Pressing
Cold pressing is another technique used by aluminium fabricators to mould and bend aluminium to any required shape. This process involves the moulding of the aluminium slug into a preferred form using extreme hydraulic pressure.
It is then followed when the metal is in cold condition. Hence it is also termed as “Cool Stamping.”
Aluminium can be produced in more complex forms, and the method of tapping and drilling can be used more effectively.
A computer system usually operates this method by shaping the metal into microns of required dimensions.
Products Manufactured
Tire rims, automotive tools, and camshafts are manufactured using this technique. Most of the products are used in ceramic and detergent industries.
Aluminium fabricated doors, windows, shop fronts, mailboxes, golf clubs, pans, and pots.
Advantages of Aluminium products
- Aluminium products such as doors and windows can be powder coated in any colour matching our homes’ decor.
- They are strong and allow us to have a slimline frame and yet hold maximum weight.
- They are light in matter, and transportation becomes easy.
- Compared to wood and UPVC, they are much durable and easy to maintain.
Conclusion
The method of shaping aluminium into a finished product, for instance, a solar panel or an outdoor enclosure, is known as aluminium fabrication.
There are various fields where this process is often used. It is widely utilized in stamping, shearing, extruding, and welding.
The advantages of aluminium fabrication outweigh UPVC and wood, so it is used the most and is considered far more durable than any other construction material.
